Osteoporosis is a disease that affects the bones and they become fragile & brittle. Bones become weak and even a minor fall can put you at a higher risk of fractures & breaking a bone. When you have Osteoporosis the density and quality of the bones are reduced. Once an Osteoporotic fracture has occurred the risk of future fractures greatly increases.
HOW CAN ACLASTA HELP?
Aclasta belongs to a class of non-hormonal drugs. It’s designed to strengthen the bones, making them less likely to break. A single dose of Aclasta is effective for one year. Aclasta is given by IV infusion in your arm. Before your infusion, you will be required to have a blood test.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Aclasta is given by IV infusion by one of our trained nurses in the comfort of our clinic. Your infusion will take no longer than 3o minutes, sou can relax in our lounges while the infusion is done.
AFTER INFUSION:
You may resume your normal activities the same day.
WHAT NEXT?
After Aclasta, you no longer need to take your other osteoporosis medications. You will have a reminder sent in 11 months time, ready for your next Aclasta infusion to be booked.
